This section is aimed at answering, clearly and concisely, the most frequently asked questions regarding the use of liquid biofuels. This FAQ is currently under development and will be completed in the next few weeks/months to come. In the meantime, you can send your questions and/or suggestions to the Biofuels Platform team by e-mail. Depending on their relevance, the questions raised may be included in this section.

Generalities

How and where can I get biofuels? Biofuels are only available for individuals in public service stations, in the form of fuel blends of up to 5% biofuels. The stations distributing such mixtures in Switzerland distributing services are shown on our interactive map. Fleet operators with their own fuel storage and distribution facilities, however, have the possibility of purchasing biofuels directly from the producers. The various options are described in the Solutions subsection.
What is the position of vehicle manufacturers regarding the use of biofuels in the EU? In general, vehicle manufacturers in the EU do not provide guarantees above 5% biodiesel in diesel and bioethanol in gasoline for vehicles in use (as opposed to new vehicles). According to various vehicle fleet operators in France, guarantees can be obtained on new vehicles, by specifying explicitly the conditions regarding the use of biofuels in tenders. The Biofuels Platform is currently working on the possibility of replacing the manufacturers guarantees at incorporation rates above 5%.
