Membership of the Biofuels Platform

Members

The Biofuels Platform is open to local and regional authorities as well as managers of vehicle fleets engaged in or planning to engage in the use of liquid biofuels (biodiesel and/or bioethanol). It is also intended for legal persons wishing to benefit from more specific services on the part of the Biofuels Platform.

It is composed of two categories:

  • members :

Members include local and/or regional authorities and any other public or private vehicle fleet operator. They are subject to an annual fee and benefit from the services of the Biofuels Platform.

  • associates/sponsors :

Associates and/or sponsors gather legal persons wishing to benefit from specific services from the Biofuels Platform. These services may include the definition of strategies for the development of biofuels, performance monitoring, representation at events and/or with public authorities, visibility with respect to other actors in the field of biofuels, setup and development of projects, etc.

Conditions of accession to the Biofuels Platform

The use of liquid biofuels (biodiesel and/or bioethanol) at incorporation rates equal to or greater than the standard rate of 5% (vol.) is subject to two essential conditions:

  • Dedicated installations of fuel storage and distribution :

For various reasons both technical and political (logistics of supply, manufacturers warranties, tax reduction, etc.), the use of biodiesel and bioethanol at incorporation rates above 5% is reserved to vehicle fleet operators with their own fuel storage facilities and distribution systems.

  • Fuel consumption level :

The accession to the Biofuels Platform and the use of biofuels at incorporation rates above the standard rate of 5% is conditioned by the consumption level (monthly volume), but also by other parameters such as the targetted incorporation rate or the configuration and capacity of existing fuel storage equipment. The criteria of eligibility are evaluated during the interview following the pre-subscription (see membership procedure below). In practice, the level of monthly consumption should exceed 5'000 litres per month.

Membership procedure

The condidtions of accession and the procedure of membership are presented as follows:

As a first step, companies and local authorities wishing to engage in the use of sustainable liquid biofuels show their interest through a pre-subscription form.

Upon receipt of the form, a personal appointment is organised in order to present the concept of the Biofuels Platform and the benefits associated with the use of biofuels.

If the company or the authority satisfies the conditions of accession, it will address the administration of the Biofuels Platform an official application for membership together with the payment of the annual fee.

The application is treated immediately upon receipt of the complete mail. The new member is then given a login and password, thereby giving him access to the PRO Area of this website and the services of the Biofuels Platform.
