Interest in biofuels is growing and the proposed EU target to increase the amount of biofuels used in transportation to 10% is likely to drive further research and development in this field. This thematic issue reports recent advances in biofuel research, focusing on research into the environmental and land use impacts of increases in biofuel crop production.
