In The State of the Argentine Biodiesel Industry, published by our chamber in October 2008, the Argentine Renewable Energies Chamber (AREC) established the groundbreaking analysis of the basics of the industry. Their follow-up study dated April 2009, State of the Argentine Biodiesel Industry: First Quarter 2009 Report, informed how the industry ended 2008 and provided insights into emerging international trade conflicts with the European Union as well as proposals to improve the Argentine domestic biodiesel market, which doesn’t begin until January 2010. The AREC institution has undertaken to report regularly in this State of the Industry series to allow the global community to also keep the pulse of developments and the issues that affect its development. This brief report analyzes market events since then and through the first semester 2009.
