Biofuels and water: An exploration
The biofuel hype has lead to debates on its environmental performance, economic feasibility and social desirability. Relatively little attention has been given to the effect of energy crop production on water demand, Berndes and De Fraiture being the exception to the rule. This paper will analyse the different impacts that biofuel production will have on water use and availability.
