New Biodiesel 2020 report surveys alternative feedstocks

An extensive look at alternative feedstocks, along with an update on governmental policies and programs, are the major additions to the second edition of "Biodiesel 2020: A Global Market Survey". Author Will Thurmond studied several alternatives in addition to the palm, soy and canola oils now in use. He investigated jatropha, castor and algae oil; yellow grease; chicken fat; beef tallow; and municipal waste. "It’s not easy to get people working in algae or jatropha to tell you how much they’ll produce, and where their price points will be", he said. The study looked at feedstocks and biodiesel trends in the United States, the European Union, Brazil, China and India, as well as worldwide.
