Prio sees Portugal biofuels market saturated

Portugal's Prio, the biofuels arm of Martifer conglomerate, is expanding production mainly to export to Spain, but sees the Portuguese market saturated with no room for new capacity. Prio director Luis Martins said the industry now required the optimisation of output and logistics as the country is aiming to meet 10% biofuels mix in gasoline and diesel by next year as required by the government. "There is no sense in investing more in this area in Portugal as the installed capacity of the national production already exceeds demand", Martins wrote in an e-mailed reply to Reuters late on Tuesday. Prio is Portugal's No. 3 biofuels producer after Iberol and Torrejana.
