Novasep and Danisco to scale-up industrial betaine production process

Novasep Process, the bioprocess division of Novasep, a supplier of manufacturing solutions to the life sciences industry, and Danisco, a Denmark-headquartered company dedicated to food and feed ingredients, enzymes and biobased solutions, are to scale-up a new extraction process for the production of natural betaine. The plant will use vanasse, a byproduct of bioethanol derived from sugar beet. Its use will enable Danisco to substantially increase the availability of natural betaine, which is used worldwide as a technical animal feed ingredient and currently in short supply. Novasep Process is responsible for the engineering of the new plant and will provide the complete process line.
