Biomethodes sets up green pilot plant in the US

Located at Genopole near Paris, Biomethodes is pioneering the development and marketing of new technologies for transforming lignocellulosic feedstock into fuels, materials and chemicals. The company has just announced that the head office of its North American subsidiary OptaFuel US, Inc. will be based in Abingdon, Virginia. The company also plans to build a pilot plant to scale up and demonstrate the production technologies for second generation biofuels, materials and chemicals from lignocellulosic feedstock. "The pilot plant will integrate two patented technologies: a pretreatment and delignification process that breaks down biomass and a hydrolysis enzyme optimization technology to improve cellulose degradation into fermentable sugars", Biomethodes CEO Gilles Amsallem explained.
