Nigeria: Why we could not realise biofuels project

Ericsson has stated that the biofuels initiative it tried to embark upon in Nigeria in 2007, could not be the realised because of concerns with issues of food security. Vice President of Ericsson's Corporate Responsibility Unit, Ms Elaine Weidman Grunewald informed THISDAY in a chat in Barcelona that these concerns made the project to be dropped by the firm. According to her, the issue of food security, which is a challenge in Africa slowed down the process, because converting agricultural products into fuel became an issue that was not necessary, given the fact that Africa was still grappling with the challenge of poverty.
